Water conservation is important! Water is provided to the homes by a well and rainwater collection. The water supply system is based on an average use of about 40 US Gallons per person per day. Each home has its own water meter, and tenants must be willing to manage their own household’s water use carefully.

A non-resident of Gabriola Island who has been working on Gabriola Island for an average of at least 20 hours per week for no less than one year, or

A registered member of Snuneymuxw First Nation, regardless of current location of residence or work.

EXPANDED PRIORITY — Indicate any of the criteria below that you deem applies to you:

A former resident of Gabriola Island who has lived away from Gabriola Island for no more than seven consecutive years, or

A Gabriola Island resident who has been living on Gabriola Island for less than one year, or

A non-resident of Gabriola Island who has verifiable work on Gabriola Island starting within 60 days of the commencement of the tenancy that will be for an average of at least 20 hours per week, or

A non-resident of Gabriola Island who has been working on Gabriola Island for an average of 20 hours per week for less than one year, or

A person with an Immediate family member whose principal residence is on Gabriola Island. “Immediate family member” means a child or parent or sibling, to whom the person is related by blood, adoption or marriage or common-law relationship, or

A status, non-status and/or self-identifying Indigenous, Inuit, or Métis person.

IN CONCLUSION

Applications will be available online between January 15 to March 15, 2026.

Between May 1 and May 15, 2026 successful applicants will be contacted directly with an offer of tenancy. (Only those applicants who are being vetted for tenancy might receive inquiries between March 15 and April 30, 2026.)

The current construction schedule is for the homes to be ready for tenants July or August, 2026.

No phone calls or emails will be viewed or accepted. Only this Tenant Online Application Form will be accepted.
